Description:
Ímar, also referred to in Irish sources as Imhar and in Old Norse as Ívarr, was a 9th-century Norse ruler active in the west of Scotland and Ireland who founded the Uí Ímair dynasty that dominated the Irish Sea and environs in the early Medieval period. On his death, a contemporary source described him as "king of the Norwegian Vikings of the whole of Ireland and Britain". Some historians consider him to be identical with the Norse saga character Ivarr the Boneless who was active at a similar time in Denmark and EnglandSource:Wikipedia
